WHATS NEXT????
May 30, 2008

So….Here we are….SEASONS OVER. I, for one, feel good about this…all season i had been saying to anyone who would listen, WE ARE TOO OLD. I am all for veteran leadership, but young legs and bodies come in handy down the stretch. Now, hopefully the Spurs will pursue a few fairly younger veterans, and grab two or three youthful bodies, and possibly convince their draft pick from last year, TIAGO SPLITTER, to leave a lucrative deal in SPAIN and come here. Splitter is 23 years young, 7-0 235 pounds, and after watching video of him play, reminds me of Dirk Nowitzki and Pau Gasol mixed in one.

Another Idea i have, HIRE AVERY JOHNSON! it doesnt look like Avery is getting a head coaching job anywhere this upcoming season (chicago, phoenix, and New york, all went elsewhere) and Popovich signed an extension thru 2012. Avery could help bring motivation and leadership to the bench, and walk right into POP’s shoes in 3 to 4 years.

Next year, we also would have a whole new team….HORRY, FINLEY, BARRY, THOMAS,STOUDAMIRE, and VAUGHN are all FREE AGENTS. i dont foresee them re-signing anyone except Vaughn, and maybe the aging THOMAS.

so NEXT YEARS ROSTER under contract:

TIM DUNCAN, TONY PARKER, MANU GINOBILLI, FABRICIO OBERTO, IME UDOKA

possible BIG NAME FREE AGENTS:

Antawn Jamison, Elton Brand, Jermaine O Neal, Ron Artest, Shawn Marion, Corey Magette, Gilbert Arenas

and ROLE PLAYERS

Gordon Giricek, Chris Mihm, Devin Brown, Chris Duhon, Matt Barnes, Theo Ratliff, Stromile Swift, Maurice Evans, Carlos Arroyo, Raef Lafrentz, Jannero Pargo, Desagana Diop, Ricky Davis

plus we have IAN MAHIMINI in the D league who is developing Quite well.

we have the 26th pick in the draft

CHRIS DOUGLAS ROBERTS, Memphis

Alexis AJINCA, FRANCE

Robin LOPEZ, Stanford

The spurs need the extra lift next season……a few great offensive players, a few good defenders (OUR STAPLE-that even during terrible offensive droughts, keeps us in games)

lets be real here-THE LAKERS HAD MORE IN THE TANK

GAME 1-we blow a 20 point lead, we win this game easy with just a little more offense

GAME 4-yes we played terrible, and caught some breaks to get back in it…..now if they call the barry-fisher foul, he hits all three free throws and we WIN….but regardless of whether barry was fouled, if we set that play up better, and go inside to tie, we more than likely WIN IN OVERTIME with all the foul trouble they were IN.

Game 5-we blow a 17 point lead, and just have nothing down the stretch to counter KOBE…..when tim duncan has a triple double, and we lose, their is something wrong

easily, this could of been SPURS 4, LAKERS 1

not to mention we didnt have a healthy MANU……

BUT NO EXCUSES….

DESTROY AND REBUILD!!!!

no big deal…we keep with the theme and win EVERY OTHER YEAR!

IM STILL STANDING STRONG!!!

This play sums it all up for the giants…destined. As a lifelong cowboys fan it was hard to root for the giants yesterday, but i found myself in the closing minutes of the game cheering for baby peyton and the G-Men….but i always find myself  rooting for the UNDERDOG!unbelievable is the only way to describe this……insane.
